Support the Annual Fund to help create thriving communities for the North Shore

Donate now to help us raise our goal of $150,000 to help support the communities, families and individuals that we serve. Without your support, we would not be able to fund projects this past year like the Harbor Street Housing for formally homeless youth, the 75+ murals for the Punto Urban Art Museum, or the 40 graduates for the YouthBuild program plus so much more! Your donation ensures the sustainability of these programs. We appreciate all that you do to make our North Shore communities vibrant and thriving!

Hear from one of the lives changed through North Shore CDC:

My name is John.

I left my country of Burundi in 2010 and found my way to the United States in 2013.This is where my family started to fall apart and I found myself homeless and in and out of shelters and jail.I wanted a new beginning so I could better my life, have a bright future, and become somebody successful.

I eventually found YouthBuild at the North Shore CDC (NSCDC).While at YouthBuild, I received a lot of construction experience, received my NCCER, OSHA and CPR certifications and was twice nominated for student of the month. I was also a youth mentor to new students.

It’s so much fun being a part of YouthBuild and you also receive a lot of support.Hannah, my NSCDC case manager, has been helping me learn a lot of things that I need in my everyday life – like how to find jobs, how to make the right decisions in many situations and making sure I’m doing what I’m supposed to do to stay out of trouble. She teaches me how to hustle and stay humble.

I found Harbor Crossing through Hannah and NSCDC. Harbor Crossing, a NSCDC building, is housing for formerly homeless youth. I was so happy about moving to Harbor Crossing because rent is less expensive and the facility is very nice. The building is full of young people and I have made a lot of new friends. Also, I have a kitchen in my unit which is amazing because I love to cook. I’m grateful for all of these things.

What’s next in my life? I want to save up a lot of money and get my US citizenship soon so I can live freely and continue to have a happy life. I am working towards becoming a head chef and someday I hope to open my own restaurant.

NSCDC has changed my life. Please consider making a gift to the Annual Fund by December 31st.The dedication of donors and friends ensures that programs like YouthBuild and affordable housing like Harbor Crossing continues to support young people like me.

Thank you for your support,

John
